Response-ability

After the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk last week on the eve of September 11th, it finally becomes more than necessary to add my thoughts to the screen of life. After shock and grief for his family and his momentous accomplishments, my concerns have turned to the state of our country and what we may each see as our responsibility going forward.

I’ve name it response-ability because this is not only a skill but a sense of a directive that is handed to each one of us. Earlier this year when I created yet another vision board for moving ahead, I made a corner called Conversations. It was important to me to talk with people in depth to take the temperature as it were, to learn from where people were headed, and to enrich my own life through their directions and inspirations.

It now appears even more urgent that we engage with others who we know, or who we don’t, to assist in whatever way possible in creating unity, and at the same time re-establishing the time honored principles of faith and trust in our country and the goodness of individuals everywhere. And at the same time recognizing the opposite of these principles in some quarters.

For each of us, this response-ability takes on a different urgency, thoughts to be examined, and actions to be taken – for which we celebrate the freedom to make these choices and their consequences.

May kindness continue to be the foundation of our decisions, our conversations and our journey forward.

PS My coaching practice is still under re-construction. As with all construction projects, it’s taking a little longer than expected and involves my own re-construction as well. I look forward to sharing it with you soon.

  1. The mission to respond … should we choose to accept it … is an important component of today’s overwhelming times. I’m still in massive grief over the loss of this man — whom his wife correctly identified as a force. Thank you for your reminder that at times like these, we need to increase our responses and engagements … if we value the positive effect it can have, when enacted with respect. And I look forward to witnessing the new installment of your coaching practice!
